About Mudder Nature Challenge
For runners, it’s a 5k course.
For bikers, it’s an 8 mile course, cyclocross style.
The Mudder Nature Challenge is a trail race by the Sacramento River. The course winds around forests and fields where racers will tackle obstacles along the way, including:
- Mud pits
- Tunnel crawl
- Haybale climbs
- Sand traps
- Water crossings
- Tire fields
- and more
The Mudder Nature Challenge is for everyone, serious to silly.
Have fun by the river and get outdoors!
Runners, Bikers, and Teams
The largest three teams to register by August 31 will have reserved VIP parking at the event!
Runners race individually or in teams of 3 or more
Bikers race individually or in teams of 3 or more
Waves of 50 participants will start every 5 minutes.
Costumes are welcome.
Bikers race the course second! Be prepared to carry your bike over the obstacles and ride across gravel and sand trails.
Rules and Start

- 7:00 am Timing chip distribution begins; must present bibs
- 8:45 am Final race instructions; mandatory meeting
- 9 am start time. Runners will start in waves. 5k course.
- 11:15 am start time for Bikers. 8 mile course in 2 loops.
- Every participant must complete a registration form and sign the "Rules and Regulations" and "Waiver & Release of Liability" forms.
- Participants under 18 at the date of registration must have a parent or guardian sign "Rule and Regulations" and "Waiver & Release of Liability" forms.
- The course and all obstacles must be completed to qualify for prizes.
- Teams are 3 or more participants. All team members must cross the finish line for the team to qualify for prizes.
- Team champions determined by race times of fastest three team members. For example, 5-person team is judged on top three times.
- Minors 13 and older at the time of the race may participate in the Challenge if they have submitted the "Rule and Regulations" and "Waiver & Release of Liability" forms signed by parent or guardian.
- Parent/guardian must accompany all minors to the Challenge.
- Children 5-12 may participate in the Mini Mudder fun run. Parents must be present at the Mini Mudder course and fun run event.
- Only registered participants are allowed on course obstacles or in the mud pits.
- No dogs at the event.
- No baby strollers or baby joggers on the course. Baby strollers are welcomed at spectator areas.
- Waves of 50 start every 5 minutes from 9:00AM until 10:30AM.
- It the participants' responsibility to be at the designated start location at least 15 minutes before their wave start time.
- Start times are determined by bib number.
- Registrations before August 29th are guaranteed a Mudder Nature Challenge t-shirt.
- Registrations after August 29th will not be guaranteed a t-shirt.

Timing: Chip technology
Timing chip distribution begins at 7 am. You must be registered and present your bib to receive your chip on the morning of the Mudder Nature Challenge. At the finish line, race officials will collect your chip.Goodies and Prizes

- Challenge racers will receive a race tee-shirt if they register by August 19th. Registrations after August 19th will receive race tee shirts on first come, first serve basis.
- Prizes will be awarded to each division champion and for best costume.

Entertainment and Food
Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the post-race Celebration by the Sacramento River. We'll have BBQ lunch, beer, soda, and water available for purchase (if you are a racer, lunch is included with your registration).
ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS ALLOWED!
Costume Contest - Dress Up and have fun!
Clothing is required – from technical tees and padded shorts, to fairy wings and superman tights. It's your choice. Feel free to express yourself and embrace the mud! Just please cover all your private parts.
The race organizers will narrow the contestants down to 10. The final 10 will be brought on stage and the costume that generates the loudest crowd response will win.
